We're Celebrating Our 21st Anniversary!!!
History of The Oxymorons
San Antonio-based, The Oxymorons have been playing to packed houses here for over 20 years. Four of the group's members have performed with the group since its inception. The members of the Oxys (as the fans call them...not the 'morons, though that may sound more fun) come from all walks of life. While a few are full-time performers, the group also includes a teacher, chef and an airline worker. The Oxys say they all share a love of performing and hearing the laughter.
The Oxymorons were featured each year at the Big Stinkin' International Improv Festival which was held for 5 years in Austin, and drew the biggest crowds of the event. They are favorites of the crowd and the other performers, as well. The Austin American-Statesman says The Oxymorons "brought genuine enjoyment while engaging the audience with their off-the-cuff acting skills." These guys are truly one of the best improv groups in the country!
The Oxys were guest performers at the San Antonio based Latino Laugh Festival for the four year duration of the festival. Today, you can find them performing for a multitude of audiences, from universities and corporations to local fund-raisers and private shows. The Oxymorons appear every Tuesday at the Rivercenter Comedy Club.
Improv comedy is based on suggestions by the audience, so the content of the show is determined by the people who are watching it. The scene might be a radio call-in show, two people meeting in a laundromat, a birthday party, or just about anything else that the audience can think up. Improv is popular with all audiences because the audience is truly involved in the show! Come and see the Oxymorons. You'll be in for many laughs and surprises.
